At Women's Health and Beyond, we are committed to providing comprehensive reproductive health services to empower individuals in making informed decisions about their health. We are proud to announce our partnership with the University of Illinois Chicago to offer aspiration procedure services, to our community.
Aspiration procedure, also known as suction aspiration or suction curettage, is a safe and effective procedure used to terminate early pregnancies. This method is commonly performed during the first trimester (up to 12 weeks) and involves:
1. Preparation: The process begins with a consultation where the healthcare provider discusses the procedure, answers any questions, and assesses the patient’s health status.
2. Anesthesia: The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, ensuring the patient is comfortable throughout.
3. Dilation: The cervix is gently dilated to create access to the uterus.
4. Suction: A suction device is used to remove the contents of the uterus, including the fetus and surrounding tissue. The entire process typically lasts about 10-15 minutes, and patients can return home the same day.
